Tamale Season WOD Breakdown
Round 1: Strength & Cardio Circuit (x3 rounds)
- 10 Sprawls: A powerful full-body move to kickstart your heart rate. Think of them as burpees without the jump!
- 15 Kettlebell Swings: Build explosive power in your hips and glutes. Focus on proper form and controlled movement.
- 10 Pushups: Engage your chest, shoulders, and core. Modify with knee pushups if needed.
- 15 Kettlebell Swings: Double up on that posterior chain burn!
- 10 Sit-Up + Press: Core and upper body meet in this dynamic combo. Use a dumbbell or kettlebell for the press.
- 15 Kettlebell Swings: You guessed it—more swings to test your stamina and strength.
- 10 Box Jumps: Explosive power meets agility. Step up as a low-impact alternative.
Round 2: Combos 1-4 with Equal Kicks (x10 rounds)
This section is where the martial arts inspiration kicks in—literally!
- Combine four striking combos with an equal number of kicks. For example, throw a jab-cross-hook-uppercut, then follow it up with four kicks of your choice.
- Repeat for ten rounds to build coordination, agility, and endurance.
Tips for Success
- Warm-Up First: Start with dynamic stretches or light cardio to loosen up. Arm swings, jumping jacks, and high knees are great options.
- Master Your Kettlebell Swings: Keep your back straight, hinge at the hips, and use your glutes to power the swing.
- Modify as Needed: New to kicks? Start with low, controlled kicks to build confidence. Advanced? Add resistance or speed to increase intensity.
- Rest Strategically: Take short breaks between exercises to stay consistent without losing momentum.
- Cool Down: After completing this workout, stretch it out to improve flexibility and recovery.
