Small and fits in pocket easy,
Just bought this, I haven’t used it on anyone or tried spraying it yet. But from the look of it, its small and fits in my pocket easy. Also it doesn’t look like your standard can of pepper spray, it kind of looks like a flash light or something. I took the canister out of it to try the mechanism and it works ok. The can that came in it doesn’t expire until 2014. Seems like a decent price for what you get.

Good size for me, easy to use.,
I started buying these to take while I walk, when I got a dog last year, in case we encounter loose dogs. It has definitely come in handy and saved me some fiasco. I have also purchased the jogger version. I like this one better. It is easier and quicker to aim and spray. I don’t like having to carry one in my hand so the jogger version isn’t as convenient to me. Also, storing the jogger one in my pocket, the safety lever sometimes gets turned on its own out of the locked position while I walk, and it automatically/accidentally discharged once or twice when I bent over to pick up something. – No harm done other than it made a hard to remove stain in a white sweater, but had it been pointed right,I wondered if it could have gotten me or my dog in the face by accident. I don’t think that would or could happen quite so easily with the design of this Spitfire one.
As to effectiveness for how I use them, both the jogger and this one work, I’ve had to use them both on dogs in the neighborhood that have gotten loose and try to approach us on our walk. Generally speaking, I have sprayed at a far enough distance to create a cloud of pepper spray in between the other loose dog(s) and me, but without spraying totally right in the face/eyes of the loose dog. The dogs get a sniff and turn away without being in utter pepper spray discomfort and turmoil. However, I don’t know that this would be nearly strong enough – or enough quantity of spray – for an encounter with a really aggressive dog or a pack of strays. For the dogs that get loose in my neighborhood this has done the trick fairly painlessly.
1 to 1.5 stars deducted for price. One incident is all I have gotten out of this small spray. I just noticed they do have refills so I will try that to save a little $.
