MAN VS. WILD Season 6 brings seasoned adventurer Bear Grylls face to face with the grueling task of navigating remote locations, sharing invaluable survival strategies along the way.
I ordered this because I own all the other seasons and generally enjoy watching Man vs. Wild shows. This season isn’t anything spectacular, like the exciting and great season 4. Season 6 is basically more of the same, Bear going through the motions and presenting exciting scenarios and situations. What I found sorta funny is that there were 3 different episodes where Bear took his sock off to use in some way. Three different times! And it’s not even something new. I’ve seen him do the ol’ sock trick in every other season. Who cares? The episode with Jake Gyllenhaal is pretty good. The episodes consist of lots of erratic cutting and zooming to keep the viewer “enguaged” or to make things more exciting. No new survial techniques are presented. None of the destinations are particularly special or exciting. If you’re a fan of Man vs. Wild, it’s not a great season, but not terrible either. Not as boring as Season 5. If you’re newly interested in Man vs. Wild, I would suggest starting with Season 4. Here’s a ranking of seasons 1-6, starting best to not so good: 1.Season 4. Most exciting and “fresh.” 2.Season 2. 3.Season 1. 4.Season 3. 5.Season 6. 6.Season 5.
I found myself thinking a half hour of watching each episode was plenty, where as the earlier seasons I enjoyed the entire hour. Pretty much only worth purchasing to finish off your Man vs. Wild collection.

How stupid do they think we are? He skydives in, takes his reserve canopy with him, and just happens to find enough parts to build a rig, fully inflated tires and all, that can help him sail across the desert? I love the shows, but cmon, Bear, you get a bit ridiculous at times. This show, the one where you decide to follow and underground river, etc. I wonder if he really believes that we believe this stuff.
I’ve heard that his crew sets everything up for him to pretend he finds it all by happenstance, and that after they shoot the scenes, he heads off to a hotel room.

I am a hugh bear grylls fan. I own his book, watched all of his episodes, bought his knife. So I was expecting to see some urban survival techniques from the season 6, but I couldn’t find them in this DVD. For some reason, they have decided not to include some episodes from season 6 which is a big disappointment for me.
