From the Desk of John Rourke – October 22nd, 2014

I appreciate you stopping by and visiting here on ModernSurvivalOnline.com. Took the family to my brothers place in Georgia for the weekend. If you are not a long time reader you may not be aware that my brothers place is my bug out location. My overall plan is to stay at home – in place. If for some reason I need to move the family I have two options – one approx 30 miles away and then in Georgia – 3+ hours away. Anyways – back to my weekend. Here are some pics I took. A few are previews of things to come:

MSO Minutemen….Are you one?

Minuteman, Concord Mass. What is a Minuteman? “Minuteman” –  Minutemen were members of teams from Massachusetts that were well-prepared militia companies of select men from the American colonial partisan militia during the American Revolutionary War. They provided a highly mobile, rapidly deployed force that allowed the colonies to respond immediately to war threats, hence the name. – Via https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minutemen The notion of the Minuteman has always intrigued me. When I was 6 or 7 years old my father took me to Concord, Massachusetts and we visited the statue pictured above. I walked across the Old North Bridge, which marks the location where British soldiers were met by the Minutemen of Concord and neighboring towns. The British retreated. We that…

Been to a gun shop lately?

I live in South Carolina and have visited several gun shops as well as stores that carry firearms and ammunition.  All are pretty much the same – no semi-automatic firearms (centerfire or rimfire), no magazines, and several calibers of ammunition virtually absent. Don’t see this anymore. With the threat of a new Assault Weapons Ban just over the horizon, there has been a massive rush on guns, magazines and ammunition – specifically AK’s, AR’s and the like. 7.62 x 39mm, .223/5.56mm, and 9mm ammunition have disappeared off the shelves along with .22LR.  Any and all magazines holding over 10 rounds are gone or selling online for big bucks. …..nor this. I felt pretty squared away with …

Note from Rourke: This post was written prior to the recent buy-out of semi-automatic firearms, ammunition and magazines. Please take that into consideration when reading it. Survival Rifles by Thenaturenurd There are many survival rifles to choose from.  I will break them down into 5 categories: AR, AK, Surplus, Pistol Carbines and Hunting. I will explain their advantages and disadvantages.  After reading my article you should be able to find out which one from the above categories fits you best. AR15 in action! Join the NRA……

Yes – another post about gun control. It is just one of many more to come. With the impending gun control legislation looming nearby – there has been no better time to join the National Rifle Association than RIGHT NOW if you are not a member. Write your Congressman, talk to your friends and neighbors that are like-minded to do the same – and join the NRA. We all need to be in this fight together. Rourke © 2013, Rourke.
