Mine just arrived and I am pleasantly surprised. It’s very light but very sturdy.
The handle appears to be very strong. You would be able to fit a bunch of stuff in here and have room left over. Would be great for camping supplies as well. Or if you are looking for a way to store and organize some of your ammo away neatly this may be a good item.

    The rough inside dimensions are:
    13.25″ Long
    7.00 ” Wide
    8.25 ” Deep

Since the case is wider than the common military type cans you are able to pack them differently and the extra room makes all the difference

Using as ammo storage and creative packing you should be able to fit the following:

    30.06 – 17 boxes
    12 ga – 9 boxes
    20ga – 15 boxes

Of course if you want to throw the stuff in there bulk you’ll get even more.
There is also a mini storage compartment on 1 side of the lid to store any other smaller items, and the latch seems very secure so nothing will accidently fall out.

I like the Plano items and would buy this again

Also this item is made in the U.S.A.

The photo here is of the Plano 1812 Magnum or XL field box, not the 1612. This box is the 1612 a little smaller then the one in the photo and does not come with dividers, lift out tray or the water proofing O ring. Also the handle is smooth not molded with finger grips. I got two of these thinking they were the 1812 based on the photo and before I knew the difference. The 1612 are great boxes and I already have mine filled with construction stuff. One will hold 12 tubes of caulking. I plan to get a 1812 also for my bigger items.

I bought a couple identical looking units at academy sports and they had a rubber gasket that sealed them while closed. This version looks the same but lacks the gasket material.
