THE SKINNY: This is a great inexpensive mosquito net. It’s light and it works. There are two things you need to know about it, though. One is that it does not feel entirely durable. Yes, it’s durable for use camping and some hiking, but just be careful, because one small tear means mosquito bites. The tear danger is not so much in use, but rather what it’s packed next to. Also, the other thing is that it’s not as compact as you might think. It’s light, yes, but for backpackers, it does take up some space. A word of advice, give it a permethrine treatment and this thing just might save your life. Well, if you’re in a Malaria zone. When I in a malaria zone, these nets were heaven-sent. We left them hanging and simply rolled them up and they lasted for the duration (one month).

    PROS:

    Works
    Lightweight

    CONS:

Takes up a lot of space in pack
    Can tear if not careful

BOTTOM LINE: If you need one, get this one.

I hang this double net inside the roof of my Honda Element. Its big enough to cover my suv sized air mattress and worked well on its first trial. I was able to sleep with the doors and liftgate open and enjoy a bug free night in the woods of Pennsylvania.

Great For Use w/ a Grand Trunk Ultra-light Hammock (also sold on Amazon), January 11, 2011

Bought this for use with a Grand Trunk Ultra-light hammock (also picked up on Amazon).
I first hang the mosquito net up with a length of paracord running parallel to the ground at a height of around 5′.
Then I set the hammock up from the inside of the mosquito net, cutting a tiny slit at the top end of the net. This allows for the hammock straps to extend outside of the mosquito net and attach to a tree.
As for the bottom, usually it is long enough to touch the ground so I just weight it down with my gear (boots, backpack, water bottle) at the four corners to create a seal.

Overall, the net is of a decent quality. Don’t bring it anywhere near a flame as the tiniest little ember or spark will burn huge holes into the netting. It catches like tinder!
Other than that (which is pretty much a no brainer), I love the fact that it’s a darker colored green as bugs are often attracted to white and bright colored fabrics.
