Midland 5001Z Review,
Provides good clear sound provided that it is tuned to your antenna. Very satisfied with product.

Buy a Cobra 25 LTD,
Purchased one new not even a year ago, had it for a whole two weeks Kept jumping to Channel 9 on me. Took it to a reputable repairs man in Lubbock, who cracked it open. Found out it was factory remanufactured job. Although externally identical to the Cobra 25, internally this one is all logic controlled where there Cobra is mechanically controlled meaning you turn the dial on the Cobra with the radio off, it will change channels and restart with the corresponding channel to dial location while on the Midland it will restart at the last saved channel. Same goes for the instant 9 switch, on the Cobra it creates a new contact while on the Midland it is a logic gate. The problem was due to the board flexing, sending a 1 to the IC controlling the instant 9 feature (which was what these radios were all remanufactured at the factory to fix in the first place). Would’ve been $80 to repair, so I returned the radio and bought a peaked and tuned Cobra 25 LTD with that $80 I saved. This was my second Midland, and my second major disappointment.

Love It,
Great sound, no problems. Easy installation. Range of at least 20 miles in my experience during the 1st week. Great price too.
